Puppet Wedding

Crankies: a form of shadow puppetry

Crankies are long, hand illustrated scrolls that are wound onto two spools. The spools are loaded onto a box with a viewing window. As the scroll is cranked, it reveals one scene at a time as a song is sung or the story is told. In the 19th century, they were called moving panoramas. In collaboration with Lilypad Puppet Theatre.
